Erika Gibson-Bertram has been creating informal mixed-media face portraits of celebrities for about four or five years. “it started as something I was doing in the morning with my coffee,” she said. “One of my sons asked me to do a portrait of him, and he really liked it.” Her older son had taken a photo of the rapper B.D. Smalls, which also became one of her subjects. Erika had also done other subjects in the past, but, thanks to her son’s request, nothing like the celebrity portraits for which she is known now. Her pieces are regularly displayed at various venues by the Kitson Arts Alliance.
